I am Chiara, born on Sami people national day , in a North Italian town. I am currently living and working in the Netherlands. This all started as a project for one of my college classes. Ever since i was a child i have always had a fascination for North Europe, from Pippi Longstocking to Danish Butter cookies, sticking on my bedroom wall pictures of Faroe Islands from magazines; so I chose this as topic, adding my passion for art and languages in the mix.
Nordic cultures illustrations
I am a lover of folk culture and I have illustrated Nordic traditional costumes several times. I also happen to be a foodie, so I often enjoy drawing all types of Nordic sweets and recipes as well.
Where to find Nordic food and cultures abroad
I have visited Scandinavia several times, but as I am based in the Netherlands, I cure my Nordic sickness by looking for Nordic cafes and bakeries in the Benelux and join Nordic-related events, as Nordic Christmas markets. My eyes tend to notice anything Nordic elsewhere too, for example when I visited Japan, or during visits to family in Italy.

As a language lover, I have self-studied to variable extents all national Nordic languages, from Swedish to Faroese, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge on here and help you finding strategies to learn languages. What languages Do I speak and how i did I learn them?
During my last year of high school I started to self study Swedish and Dutch on duolingo, after having studied other 3 foreign languages for 5 years (English, French, German). I started to actively speak Danish and Norwegian more recently and began studying Icelandic and Finnish during the 2020 lockdown. Other than these languages I have always adored Japan and I am slowly studying Japanese as well.
